I have a son who is 24 yrs old, he has Autism.  He has been working at The GUILD International College for almost a year. Since he started working at The GUILD, he has changed a lot. He used to be a cheerful mommy’s boy before. Now, he is more responsible. He understands he has to go to work. He gets up at 5-30 or 5-35 am to take a shower. He has his breakfast at 6 am. 6-30 or 6-35am he leaves the house to get into a bus to take him to the MRT Station.

I watched his growth in 11 months. He has become matured and sensible. I believe the working environment has done a lot for his betterment. He tells me always that he really likes to work at The GUILD He likes the people there, he mentions their names to me and always says they are very nice people and he always prays for them. As a mother of a special needs child I am very pleased to know that my child knows how to appreciate those who he works with and for. He always shares with me what he does at the working place and is proud and happy that he can do the jobs. After reaching home from work, he has Milo and snacks, he shares about what he does . As usual he will say” I like working at The GUILD and I want to do more there.” He communicates much better than before. My reply is always,” God bless you. You are working at the right place and with the right people.”

As a mother I am very thankful to the people who have helped to make him a better person by giving him an opportunity to work at The GUILD International College. I hope my son can do more than what he has done at The GUILD International College.

Matthew has been attending The GUILD International College since it opened, transitioning from MSIS. He looks forward to going to school every morning as he knows that it is a place where he is accepted as a unique individual and where he can learn, interact socially in his own space and time. Rhea has been going to The Guild since it started last year. She enjoys her time at the college which has passionate teachers who work really hard to ensure that the children are able to have basic English and Numeracy skills as well as daily living skills. From all the various vocations provided by The Guild, Rhea has enjoyed learning Music, Woodwork, Drama and IT skills the most. I also like that she is able to work at the inhouse cafe and gain confidence while doing so. All in all a great place for Rhea to enhance her skills and confidence

One of our reasons for moving to Singapore was to secure a good school for our son Patrick, 14, who has a rare condition called Alternating Hemiplegia of childhood. The school needed to have facilities that supported him during occasional spells where he needs to use a wheelchair. The Guild was one of the very few places with both good accessibility on all floors, and a custom stair climber that allows less mobile students to ascend to the upper floor. Secondly, we knew Patrick would benefit from small group instruction and a variety of learning experiences that focussed on the essentials, literacy and numeracy, as well as practical activities.

The modified Australian curriculum offered by The Guild, with an emphasis on life and real-world skills, have met Patrick’s needs exceptionally well. The teachers and school staff are friendly, enthusiastic and energetic, and we’ve all been made to feel very welcome. The parents are great too and Patrick has appreciated the interaction with friends from his class. Thanks to everyone at The Guild!

Fedor has attended the Melbourne International School since 2016 when we arrived into Singapore. He started in the Foundation class and has since progressed to the Pathways class. Upon joining, his knowledge of English was limited, as was his communication skills. This changed fairly quickly thanks to the great learning system and support put in place for him. Despite being a new student, he was immediately roped into the year end concert which made him feel accepted and included.

In January 2022 Fedor smoothly transited to The GUILD International College as the larger school environment and facilities better supported his growing needs. The experienced and creative teachers together with the highly inclusive culture of the schools meant that each and every students’ needs are recognised and respected.

The Australian curriculum at both schools was a good fit for Fedor as it had a holistic combination of the academics as well as the arts such as visual art, performing art and music. This gave him the opportunity to get grounded in the academic concepts while at the same time express his creativity through the various art forms. During school holidays, Fedor counts the days to coming back to school. This love for learning is a huge win for me!
