Transition Programme – Full Time Course

The Transition Programme aims to prepare students with confidence and independence for life outside the school environment.

Students learn how to interact with others in their environment by placing orders, making requests and purchasing goods. Students will also learn how to access facilities and practice various independent living skills such as grooming, shopping and preparing a meal.

Students who are ready for employment will get the chance to explore pre-vocational skills that will enable them to work in a structured workplace. We focus on the areas below and develop resources to teach it well. We work collaboratively with the therapists to ensure each child reaches their individual goals. Students will graduate with a certificate from The GUILD International College.

Students recognise the diversity of families and communities. They demonstrate ways to interact with and care for others. the curriculum focuses on enabling students to learn how to be socially perceptive. Students learn to guide their behaviour across a range of familiar situations. They learn to adhere to class practice, offer assistance, share, initiate activities and regulate emotional expression.

Students learn through movement by engaging in a variety of physical activities in a range of environments (indoor and outdoor).

They participate in simple games with support, to follow instructions and to remain on task.

Students are encouraged to develop and practice fundamental movement skills through active play and structured movement activities to improve competence and confidence in their movement ability.
